MOAF doula support

What Is a Doula?

A doula is a trained, non-medical professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to a birthing parent and family before, during, and after childbirth.

Unlike doctors or midwives, a doula does not perform clinical procedures. Instead, they act as your steady companion — helping you feel informed, heard, and cared for at every stage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are MOAF doulas medically trained professionals?

No. MOAF doulas are certified non-medical birth and postpartum support professionals. They do not perform clinical assessments, prescribe medication, or replace your doctor, midwife, or healthcare team. Their role is to provide emotional, informational, and practical support alongside your medical care.

When should I book a Birth Doula?

We recommend booking your doula by 20–28 weeks of pregnancy to allow ample time for prenatal consultations and birth preparation. That said, we accept bookings up to 36 weeks depending on availability — contact us to check.

Can I have a doula if I'm planning a C-section?

Yes. A birth doula can provide invaluable support during a planned or unplanned caesarean birth — including pre-surgery calm techniques, partner support, and immediate post-birth bonding guidance. Please discuss your birth plan with your doula during your prenatal consultation.

Do you offer virtual doula support?

Yes. Virtual doula sessions are available for prenatal consultations, postpartum check-ins, and families located outside our in-person service area. Please enquire about virtual-only package options during your discovery call.

What happens if my doula is unavailable when I go into labour?

We maintain a backup doula network to ensure you always have qualified support. In the event your primary doula is unavailable, a pre-introduced backup doula who has been briefed on your care plan will be assigned. Your continuity of care is our priority.

Can I combine a Birth Doula package with a Postpartum Doula package?

Absolutely — and we encourage it. Families who book both services benefit from seamless care continuity and are eligible for a combined package discount. Speak to our team to create a bundled plan that covers your full maternity journey.

Do you support international or medical travel clients?

Yes. MOAF's concierge infrastructure is well-positioned to support international clients and those travelling for maternity care. We coordinate with your wider MOAF healthcare concierge team for accommodation, logistics, and care planning.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept bank transfers, major credit cards, and instalment payment plans for clients who book in advance. Full payment terms are outlined in your service agreement, provided after your discovery call.
